During the month of October 2020 a selection of unique objects from the historic Waldorf Astoria New York will be auctioned. Fine furnishings which have witnessed so many extraordinary people and special moments at this legendary hotel.
These objects, though in many cases already beautiful by themselves, are lifted beyond the ordinary aesthetics because of their legacy. The chairs, tables and mirrors on auction are exceptional because they are linked to a place where ‘it all happened’ and where history was made. It’s the memories and stories associated with the object that make the difference. Combing the tangible and the intangible. Even more, a tangible memento facilitates the impact and duration of the actual recollection of treasured moments passed.
This power of connecting special moments in your favourite city to a concrete object is the very foundation of our collection of world cities, including our renowned New York City Cufflinks. Developed in collaboration with New York City dwellers. Your tangible city memento is available, now it’s up to you to connect your special city moments to these handcrafted gems.
If walls could talk, let alone your cufflinks…

Dear city dweller,
These extraordinary times affect our personal and professional lives and we hope you and your loved ones are in good health and spirit.
More than ever we realize health - both physically and mentally - is our first priority.
How did your life change? A lot of fellow city dwellers are now working from home, alone or together with their partner and/or their children. Empty streets create crowded homes. A new routine has to be worked out. From social distancing outside to closeness at home. The city is silent. Fewer planes, trains and cars. More room for reflection on our life as it is now and beyond these challenging times.
Early June 2019 Mr. Jan Peter Balkenende – former Prime Minister of the Netherlands – received a set of the Rotterdam City Cufflinks.
Mr. Balkenende, who is a Rotterdam aficionado, was impressed by the level of detail of this distinctive design. “I have hundreds of cufflinks, and this design really stands out to the rest”, so he said. In a relaxed encounter between Mr. Balkenende and designer Seroj de Graaf the love for both design as well as automotive issues was shared. A cufflink moment par excellence.
Governor Theo Bovens and Seroj de Graaf
On 8 May 2019 Mr. Theo Bovens, the Governor (King’s Commissioner) of the Province of Limburg was presented set No. 1 of the Maastricht City Cufflinks at the prestigious Amstel hotel in Amsterdam. This took place at the renowned National Asparagus Party, an event celebrating the business and cultural ties between Limburg and nation’s capital Amsterdam.
The Governor of Limburg, based in Limburg’s capital Maastricht, loved our Maastricht design and accepted the first set on behalf of the Province. On his suggestion this unique set will be worn by him during his term of office and subsequently handed down to future successors. Yet again linking people and creating new cufflink moments.
Mr. Allard Castelein and Seroj de Graaf
On May 1 2019 Mr. Allard Castelein, the President and CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, was presented set No. 1 of the Rotterdam City Cufflinks by designer Seroj de Graaf.
Mr. Castelein - a passionate cufflink wearer - appreciated the distinctive design, highlighting the iconic architecture of this prominent port city. Set No. 1 truly found its home at the No 1. Port of Europe. Yet another cufflink moment, connecting people being proud of their city.
